Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.
At 1st Sittingbourne (S.A) Scout Group we help children and young adults reach their full potential. You can learn survival skills, first aid, cooking and even expedition skills that can lead on to Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
We develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people develop and improve key life skills.
We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We’re part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.
There’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.
This everyday adventure is possible thanks to our adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people as Section Leaders, to helping manage our Group, to being a charity Trustee.
The Group has steadily grown over the last 10+ years, from the hard work and effort of our Leadership team, fully supportive Executive Committee and our Section Leaders.
Our Group is further supported by the Young Leaders Scheme offered through the Explorers section.
In December 2018, our Group received the Overall Growth Award. In October 2018, our Scout Leader Gary Chadwick received The Award for Merit. This award is given for more than 10 years of Outstanding Service. It implies keen, conscientious, imaginative and dedicated service over a sustained period.
