Tonight our Cubs and Scouts were visited by Guide Dogs. They spoke to children about all the work and training they do. The puppies start from 6 weeks old and then spending 2 years training to be someones companion and assistance dog.
The Cubs and Scouts talked about the types of challenges that people with sight problems can have and they were shown and told about devices which can assist them.
The Scouts continued their evening with activities on the senses theme. They paired up, blind folded one at a time, and had to move or be guided about the room around everyday objects such as tables and chairs and find their way to a destination.
Thank you to all the Cubs and Scouts, who were really well behaved. A very big Thank you to the Guide Dogs for their visit tonight.
