All our Leaders are unpaid volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people as Section Leaders, to helping manage our Group, to being a charity Trustee. Some wear uniform and others not, depending on their role.
All leaders are required to complete a modular course of training to better equip them to give of their best for the young people.
The Group has steadily grown over the last 10+ years, from the hard work and effort of our Leadership team, fully supportive Executive Committee and our Section Leaders.
Our Group is further supported by the Young Leaders Scheme offered through the Explorers section.
In December 2018, our Group received the Overall Growth Award. In October 2018, our Scout Leader Gary Chadwick received The Award for Merit. This award is given for more than 10 years of Outstanding Service. It implies keen, conscientious, imaginative and dedicated service over a sustained period.
In July 2020, three members of our Leadership were presented with awards:
Explorers Leader Perri Mortimer was awarded Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service in respect of not less than 5 years good service, and for the very real contribution Perri has made in Scouting being the driving force for starting up an additional Explorers unit in the District.
Assistant Group Scout Leader Janice Chadwick was awarded Chief Scout’s Length of Service Awards in recognition for her 10 years of service. She was also awarded the Award for Merit which is given for outstanding service in respect for her continued service to the District for Training, 1st Aid and Risk Assessor.
